MSc Pratik Tawade
Electronic Components, Technology and Materials (ECTM), Department of Microelectronics
Biography
Pratik Tawade completed his Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University Institute of Chemical Technology, India (2019). He completed his Bachelor's thesis at IIT Bombay, where he worked on designing a scalable flow-based microfluidic device for drug discovery applications. Pratik completed his master's degree in chemical engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras), India (2021). He was awarded the DAAD KOSPIE scholarship to complete his master's thesis at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany, where he worked on developing a microfluidic process for the direct synthesis of hydrogen peroxide. Pratik was also part of a Frugal Science cohort at Stanford University. He worked with Prof. Manu Prakash to develop a paper-based millifluidic frugal tool for diagnosing Schistosomiasis.
Pratik enthusiastically joined the ECTM group of TU Delft in July 2022 to work on developing various integrated sensors for Organ-on-Chip systems. His work is part of a LymphChip consortium for developing immunocompetent human organ-on-a-chip models with integrated lymph drainage for fully capturing human disease, drug, and tissue repair mechanisms. With a background in Chemical Engineering, Microfluidics, Biomaterials, and Tissue engineering, he aims to work with the multi-disciplinary team of LymphChip to develop OoC models which can be applied as a precision tool for immune-related disorders.
