prof.dr.ir. F.P. Widdershoven

Frans P. Widdershoven was born in Sittard, the Netherlands, in 1959. He received a M.Sc. (cum laude) degree from Eindhoven University of Technology in 1984, and a Ph.D. degree from the University of Twente in 1991. Currently he is Fellow at NXP Semiconductors, and part-time professor at Delft University of Technology, in the Section Bioelectronics.

His research interests include embedded smart sensors & biosensors, signal transduction theory, low-power design, machine learning & embedded hardware accelerators, smart systems, algorithms, and simulation.

He did (co)author 71 scientific publications and conference contributions, and co-edit the book “AmIware, Hardware Technology Drivers of Ambient Intelligence” (Springer 2006). He has 44 granted US patents.

He currently serves as a committee member of the working group “Physics for Technology and Instrumentation” of the Dutch Research Council (NWO).
